Guy McLean is a self-taught Australian Horseman who has entertained, inspired, and educated millions of audience members from all walks of life. After achieving top honors in his field at home, Guy decided it was time to take on the international stage. In June of 2010, Guy arrived in the US with four of his Australian bred horses to commence his first American tour. Since 1999, Guy and his amazing equine team have been featured at many Australian events such as: Royal shows, Equitana Asia Pacific, numerous major Equestrian Festivals, International Rodeos and the Australia's famous "Man from Snowy River Festival." Another of Guy's talents is bush poetry, having twice been crowned Australian Bush Poet Champion. In 2002 and 2006 Guy received the great honor of being named an official 'Ambassador of the Outback.' In 2005, Guy was the inaugural winner of "Equitana's Way of the Horse" colt starting competition.
Since his arrival in the US, Guy and his equine team's stunning performances quickly gained popular notoriety. Guy and his team have had the honor of performing at the 2010 World Equestrian Games, at the 2011 Breyerfest event in Lexington, KY, a featured performer at Dressage At Devon, The Royal Winter Fair and at the National Rodeo Finals in Las Vegas for the last 4 years as a pre-show performer nightly outside the Thomas and Mack center. He has also performed at a number of other major rodeos, festivals, and equestrian events around the USA and Canada.
These performances and a growing fan following garnered him an invitation to represent Team Australia at the 2012 "Road to the Horse" competition. Guy thrilled the crowd with his colt starting ability and entertained them with his good humor. Working with a colt he named Aussie, as a tribute to his homeland, Guy and Team Australia emerged victorious at the end of the tense 3-day event, beating out Teams Canada and USA. Guy was asked to return as an individual to Road to the Horse in 2013 to defend his title as World Champion. He again won the title of International Colt Starting Champion with an unforgettable final obstacle course on a red bay colt Guy named Mate.
Although Guy has an uncanny ability to entertain an audience with his magnetic personality, authentic bush poetry, quick wit, cracking stock whips and enchanting Australian accent, it is his almost supernatural connection with the horse that mesmerizes and captivates audiences of every age and nationality.
